Facial ArtFat swelling is most pronounced Day 1 to 3, receding visibly by Day 5 and fully resolved by Week 3 to 4. The incision sites (pinpoint, hidden under the chin and behind the ears) are invisible within a week. Most patients wear a light chin-sling for 3 to 5 days, often removing it for photos or important meetings.
Double chin liposuction removes submental fat only. V-line surgery is a separate, more invasive procedure that involves bone contouring of the mandible (jawbone) — cutting and reshaping bone. Dr. Lee does not perform V-line surgery. If your concern is a wide jawbone rather than submental fat, ArtFat is not the right procedure.
Partially — Accent Prime radiofrequency included in ArtFat improves mild-to-moderate skin laxity in the submental zone. However, severe neck skin laxity (common in patients over 55 or after major weight loss) may require a dedicated neck lift rather than lipo. Honest skin-elasticity assessment is part of every Artner consultation.

Most patients return to desk or office work at Day 3 to 5. Mild swelling and light bruising are manageable with foundation makeup. Proper ArtFat preserves the buccal fat pad and deep facial fat compartments — these are structural, not cosmetic, and should never be extracted. Hollow-face complications come from over-aggressive extraction of deep fat, not from proper subcutaneous ArtFat. Conservative extraction philosophy is why Artner uses ArtFat for facial cases.
Short-haul flights are possible Day 2 onward. We recommend Day 3 as the minimum for comfort on any flight. Pressure changes during takeoff and landing can briefly increase swelling but do not affect outcome. Compression sleeve or chin-sling is NOT worn during flight for medical-screening reasons.
